Sea Duck Hunting on Pamlico Sound

Simply put, gunning sea ducks in Eastern North Carolina is a thrill. We scout and hunt the renowned Pamlico Sound from late October through the remainder of the season ending in January. With this vast body of water scouting is a must, and our local guides are on the water nearly every day of the season to ensure the hunts we offer are top notch. We move to where the birds want to be, and are not bound by a “stationary” blind. North State Guide utilizes layout boats and “float rigs” to harvest sea ducks and gun over traditional hand carved decoys.

While we primarily target Surf and Black Scoters, other species of waterfowl will readily toll into the decoys, which makes for a nice mixed bag. Also if you would like some local oysters to enjoy after the hunt to go along with your favorite adult beverage please put in a request and we’ll tong some up for you.
